# SkelaDB > SkelaDB is serverless PostgreSQL 18 you run in your own Kubernetes cluster and cloud account. Branch databases in seconds, scale idle ones to zero and restore any second of history. Free license key under $1M revenue. SkelaDB is self-hosted serverless PostgreSQL 18, with four small patches to PostgreSQL. In its default storage mode it separates compute from storage so that databases branch in seconds with copy-on-write, scale to zero when idle, wake on the next connection and restore to any second of history; an optional dedicated-disk mode keeps each branch on its own volume and copies data when branching. It installs into the customer's own Kubernetes 1.29 or later cluster and stores history in the customer's own object storage bucket; install profiles for Amazon EKS, Google GKE and Azure AKS are in preview and not yet verified on those services. An MCP server and a CLI for AI agents are available as downloadable binaries. Self-hosting needs a license key, free for organizations under $1M in annual revenue. SkelaDB Cloud, a managed version, is coming soon. ## Pages - [Home](https://skeladb.com/): Serverless Postgres in your own cloud. - [Postgres for AI agents: a branch per task, MCP server, scale to zero](https://skeladb.com/agents): SkelaDB gives every AI agent task its own Postgres branch in about 130 ms, stops idle branches, rewinds any mistake and offers an MCP server and CLI as downloads, all inside your own cloud. - [Postgres branching, scale to zero and point-in-time restore](https://skeladb.com/product): How SkelaDB branches Postgres with copy-on-write storage, stops idle compute, restores any second of history and keeps every byte in object storage in your account. - [Install SkelaDB: self-hosted serverless Postgres on Kubernetes](https://skeladb.com/install): Download the signed SkelaDB release, check what your cluster needs, run the installer and find every guide for running SkelaDB in production. - [Pricing: free self-hosted serverless Postgres](https://skeladb.com/pricing): SkelaDB is free to self-host with a free license key for organizations under $1M in annual revenue, with no per-branch fees. Serverless Postgres that you install in your own cloud account. Databases branch in seconds, stop when idle and restore to any second of their history. - Where does my data live? In your own Kubernetes cluster and cloud account. Compute runs in your cluster and history is kept in your own object storage bucket. Nothing passes through SkelaDB. - Is it real PostgreSQL? Yes. SkelaDB runs PostgreSQL 18 with four small patches that make storage pluggable, plus a storage extension. Drivers, ORMs, contrib extensions, pgvector and the wire protocol work unchanged; other extensions, such as PostGIS, are not included. - Why is it a good fit for AI agents? Agents need many short-lived, isolated databases. SkelaDB gives each task its own branch of real data, stops it when the task ends, and offers an MCP server and CLI as downloadable binaries with scoped keys. - Which clouds does it run on? Any Kubernetes 1.29 or later with cert-manager and an S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob bucket. Install profiles for Amazon EKS, Google GKE and Azure AKS are in preview: we have tested on local Kubernetes and emulated AWS, not yet on those managed services. - How much does it cost? Self-hosting is free for organizations under $1M in annual revenue, with every feature, using a free license key we issue on request. Larger organizations buy an annual license. SkelaDB Cloud, the managed version, is coming soon. ## Optional - [Full product reference for language models](https://skeladb.com/llms-full.txt) - [Install guide and documentation](https://skeladb.com/install) - [Release downloads](https://skeladb.com/releases/0.0.1/) - [Report a vulnerability](mailto:security@skeladb.com) - [Contact](mailto:founders@skeladb.com)
